Liefeld Sketch by Lawnz Liefeld Sketch by Lawnz
Commissioned by Craig Devena, this is a Rob Liefeld pen/marker sketch that I colored. It was interesting working with such thin lines. This is the first Liefeld piece I've colored.

Really, all he needs to do is use goddamn anatomy sheets for his characters, and he'd actually be a pretty good artist. Not great, but he'd make big improvements.

Why does he always draw grey tubes sticking out of peoples backs?

Because he has no talent and makes up for it by drawing random shit. Look at the guns.
Badrock and the Thing both have the same face here.

Remember when he tried to draw helicopters?

oh god no but I've seen 100 other examples that show that he was definitely a product of his time and was in the right place at the right time to hit it big. If he was around in any other decade he'd have failed tremendously

Yeah. I think so too. I just don't understand how people got sucked into the 'hype'. I managed a hobby shop and was constantly amazed at how many people looked for his Image comics.

They had no story, no backgrounds, terrible action, somewhat good coloring, and never shipped on time.

being EXTREME was a big deal a while ago. All that has toned down and he has been struggling to fit in ever since, all while blaming everything else but him for why he isn't doing well in the industry these days

You would think that when he was with Image at the start he'd get some pointers from the other more accomplished artists there.....

well I think Image comics at the time suffered from bad writing all around. The idea of Image was that it was made by three people who were mainly just artists, so the emphasis was on pretty visuals instead of writing. Thankfully they have great writers there (Kirkman easily) so it's better now

At the start Image had no writing:rofl:
Shit, Spawn never had writing, even when Sim and Miller did their issues.
